2013 NMU Sports Hall of Fame Inductees

The Northern Michigan University Sports Hall of Fame inducted four new members on Saturday, April 13 in the Great Lakes Room of the University Center. The dinner and program were held in conjunction with the Student-Athlete Awards Banquet.


Ken Godfrey

Ken Godfrey spent over 32 years working at NMU. He started as a graduate assistant in 1978 and was the Special Assistant to the President/Athletic Director through May 2011.

Caitlin (Compton) Gregg

Caitlin (Compton) Gregg was a two-sport athlete, participating in cross country and Nordic skiing from 1999-02. She was a four-time All-American in cross country and an All-American in skiing.

Dwight Hoffman

Dwight Hoffman was a four-time NCAA II National Champion and five-time NCAA II All-American on the men’s swimming and diving team from 1976-80. Hoffman dominated the one and three-meter dives.

Lúcia (Pereira) Shyiak

Lúcia (Pereira) Shyiak lettered three times in volleyball from 1995-98 and was a two-time All-American. She holds NMU records for kills per game in a career (4.58), kills per game in a season (4.79) and kills in a match (33).
