The event will once again be held in conjunction with the Student-Athlete Awards Banquet. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. and program will follow.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Marquette, Mich. will be quiet as all Northern Michigan University athletic teams will be hitting the road this weekend. The NMU volleyball team will travel to Cedarville, Lake Erie and Ashland. Wildcat football hits the road and returns to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference action at Hillsdale. NMU soccer will open GLIAC play at Michigan Tech and the NMU golf team will open their fall schedule at the GLIAC Fall Invitational.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Julie Rochester, Ed.D., AT, ATC of the Northern Michigan University faculty will be inducted into the Michigan Athletic Trainers’ Society (MATS) Hall of Fame on June 6, 2014 in Ypsilanti, MI. Rochester is an Associate Professor in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department, is the Director of the Athletic Training Education Program at NMU and serves as the Athletic Training Coordinator and Faculty Athletics Representative for the Wildcats athletic department.

  • NMU To Host Fuel U.P. In The Dome Event

    The Northern Michigan University Athletic Department will host the Fuel U.P. in the Dome event, a nutrition and exercise program that focuses on helping youth make changes in their school that will help them “fuel up” with healthy foods and vegetables they may be missing and to get active and play for 60 minutes each day,. The event will take place on Saturday, May 17 at the Superior Dome.

    The fourth inductee into the class of 2014 is Tuomas Tarkki who played for the NMU hockey team from 2001-05 and turned in one of the best single-season performances by an NMU goalie in program history.

    Shana (Decremer) Ojala who was a two-year letter winner and competed for the NMU women’s basketball team from 1995-97.

    Lehtinen has served as the team physician for Northern Michigan athletics for over 32 years and has been a physician for the NMU Olympic Training site. He has also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the NMU hockey program since 2006.
  • NMU Sports Hall of Fame Inductee Lindsey (Weier) Dehlin

    Dehlin was a two-sport athlete at Northern Michigan, competing in cross country and Nordic skiing from 2002-07. She was a National Champion, a five-time All-American and a two-time member of the U.S. Olympic Team in Nordic skiing. She also earned four letters competing in cross country.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University and the United States Olympic Committee announced today the renewal of a contract to maintain an Olympic training site on the NMU campus. The training site currently features residential programs for men’s Greco-Roman wrestling and men’s and women’s weightlifting.
