The Northern Michigan University Athletic Department will host the Fuel U.P. in the Dome event, a nutrition and exercise program that focuses on helping youth make changes in their school that will help them “fuel up” with healthy foods and vegetables they may be missing and to get active and play for 60 minutes each day,. The event will take place on Saturday, May 17 at the Superior Dome.
The event will host over 400 fourth, fifth and sixth graders from the Upper Peninsula who will join former Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions players along with coaches and players from Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech in learning how to make the right choices to fuel their bodies.
Fifteen NMU student-athletes and several coaches will be on hand to work with the students throughout the program.
Invitations were sent out to Upper Peninsula school districts who chose students to participate. T-shirts, cinch sacks, and wrist bands with information inside will be given to each participant of the program and pictures and autographs of the players will also be available. Pre-registration is required to attend and the day starts off with healthy snacks at the 9-9:30 a.m. check-in. If your child was asked to participate, please arrive early.
