Spring Football Game Set For April 20
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The 2013 Northern Michigan University football season gets underway on Monday, March 25 with the opening day of spring practice from the Superior Dome. The spring season will conclude with the annual Spring Game on April 20 at 3:30 p.m.

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team announces its schedule for the upcoming 2013 season. The 11-game schedule consists of 10 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games and five home contests at the Superior Dome.

BROOKFIELD, Ill. – The Don Hansen Football Committee released the 2012 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region Four squad on Tuesday (Jan. 8). Four Northern Michigan University football players were selected.

Football Season Recap
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team wrapped up the 100th season of Wildcat football under first-year head coach Chris Ostrowsky. The 2012 season was a tale of two halves as the 'Cats went 1-5 in the first six games and 3-2 in the final five games. The Green and Gold opened the season with a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at the University of Findlay on Aug. 30. The Oilers defeated the 'Cats 45-10 after scoring the first 10 points of the game and scoring three straight touchdowns in the third quarter.

NMU Represented at Football All-Star Games
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team has seniors representing the Wildcats in college all-star games in the next two weeks. Defensive lineman Zach Anderson and offensive lineman Jace Daniels will play in Sunday’s third annual National Bowl Game at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, Pa. Kicker Rockne Belmonte is playing in the D2 vs. NAIA Scout Bowl on Dec. 15 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Jessie Named Daktronics First Team All-Super Region 4
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Junior Christian Jessie, of the Northern Michigan University football team, was selected to the 2012 Daktronics Inc. All-Super Region Four first team. Jessie, a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., was the return specialist selection as he led the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in kick return yards (1,056) and average return yards (28.6). He broke a Superior Dome record with a 99-yard kickoff return in the final game of the season against Ferris State.

BAY CITY, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team had four players honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the annual postseason awards. Seniors Zach Anderson, Rockne Belmonte and Jace Daniels along with junior Christian Jessie were named to the All-GLIAC First Team.

Football Loses Heart Breaker in Season Finale
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team suffered a heart-breaking loss in the final game of the 2012 season on Saturday (Nov. 10) from the Superior Dome. Ferris State scored a touchdown with nine seconds to go and had a successful two-point conversion to defeat the Wildcats 32-31 on Senior Day.

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team snapped an 11-game losing to streak to Grand Valley State with a 38-10 upset of the No. 14-ranked Lakers on Saturday (Oct. 13) afternoon from the Superior Dome. The Wildcats allowed only 263 yards of offense while totaling 462 yards of their own. NMU is now 2-5 overall and 1-5 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Wildcats outscored the Huskies in the second half after MTU jumped out to a 34-0 lead in the first half.

Wildcats Host Youth Football Camp July 30-Aug. 1
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team will hold its 2012 Youth Football Camp on July 30-Aug. 1 at the NMU practice football fields behind the Superior Dome. The camp is for grades K-8 and is $50 per athlete. The camp runs from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. each night.
