    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team is hosting its annual basketball camp on July 22-25 at the PEIF practice gym. The date of the camp has been pushed back to allow more athletes to sign up. All players ages 8-18 are invited. The camp costs $100 per athlete.

An introductory press conference in tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday (May 13) in the Wildcat Room of the Berry Events Center.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Four finalists for the head men’s basketball coaching position at Northern Michigan University will be on campus from April 29-May 2. Each candidate will spend a day at NMU, meeting with various groups and presenting at a public forum. The four candidates are Tom Brown, associate men’s head coach at Winona (Minn.) State University; Dan Evans, assistant men’s coach at Hillsdale College; Jeff Kaminsky, men’s head coach at Valley City (N.D.) State University; and Bill Sall, men’s head coach at Ferris State University.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Athletic Director Forrest Karr has announced the search committee for the hiring of the men’s basketball head coaching position. The committee consists of seven community members, three faculty members and four NMU staff members.

  • Lewis’ NMU Coaching Contract Not Renewed

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The contract of Northern Michigan University men’s basketball coach Doug Lewis will not be renewed, according to NMU Athletic Director Forrest Karr. Lewis has been the Wildcats’ head coach for the last three seasons. This past year, Northern went 5-21 overall and 4-18 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for last place in the North Division, the same position the team has held for the past three years.
  • Craggs Named NMU’s February Scholar Athlete of the Month

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Junior Matthew Craggs of the Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team has been named NMU's Student-Athlete Scholar of the Month for February by the Athletic Council. Craggs, a native of Kimberly Wis., is majoring in marketing and holds a 3.29 grade point average. He was nominated Dr. Olga J. Hocking, an Adjunct Instructor in Mathematics and Computer Science Department.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team was defeated 69-66 by Northwood University on Saturday (Feb. 23) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game from the Berry Events Center. Northern is now 5-20 overall and 4-17 in the conference. Northwood improves to 12-13 overall and 11-10 in the GLIAC.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team was defeated by U.P.-rival Lake Superior State University on Thursday (Feb. 21) evening. The Lakers took the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup, 58-41 from the Berry Events Center. With the loss, the Wildcats are 5-19 overall and 4-16 in the GLIAC. LSSU improves to 13-11 overall and 10-10 in conference play.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team hosts its final two home games this weekend from the Berry Events Center. The weekend tips off on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. as the Wildcats take on Lake Superior State University. On Saturday at 1 p.m. Northwood University comes to town on Senior Day. Senior forwards Joe Simon and TJ Cameron will play in their final game in the Green and Gold at home on Saturday and will be honored before the game.

    DETROIT, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team dropped its second Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game of the weekend on Saturday (Feb. 16) to Wayne State University. The Warriors defeated NMU, 66-46 from Detroit, Mich. The Wildcats fall to 5-18 overall and 4-15 in the GLIAC. The Warriors are now 15-6 overall and 14-4 in conference play.

    UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team dropped its first game of the weekend on Thursday (Feb. 14) at Saginaw Valley State University. The Cardinals took the game, 57-51 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup. Northern is now 5-17 overall and 4-14 in the conference, with SVSU improving to 10-11 overall and 8-10 in the GLIAC.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team fell 69-63 to Ferris State University on Saturday (Feb. 9) afternoon from the Berry Events Center in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game. The loss drops NMU to 5-16 overall and 4-13 in the GLIAC, while the Bulldogs improve to 12-9 and 11-6 in conference play. NMU has lost 10 games this season by 10 points or fewer.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team fell 64-56 to Grand Valley State University on Thursday (Feb. 7) evening from the Berry Events Center. With the loss, NMU is now 5-15 overall and 4-12 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. GVSU improves to 15-5 overall and 12-4 in conference play. After a GVSU one-point halftime lead (30-29), the road team outscored the Wildcats 34-27 in the second half. The Lakers went on a 17-1 run in the middle of the second half to take control of the game with a 55-35 lead.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – After a stunning win against U.P.-rival Michigan Tech on Saturday (Feb. 2), the Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team continues play at home this weekend. NMU faces Grand Valley State on Thursday (Feb. 7) and Ferris State on Saturday (Feb. 9) in two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games. Tip-off for Thursday’s game is at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday’s is scheduled for 11 a.m.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball snapped its six-game losing streak with a 59-55 victory over U.P.-rival Michigan Tech on Saturday (Feb. 2) afternoon from the Berry Events Center. The win snapped MTU’s three-game win streak and four-game streak over the Wildcats. NMU is now 5-14 overall and 4-11 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The last win over the Huskies was Jan. 2, 2010 in Houghton.

Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. from the Berry Events Center. Northern is 4-14 overall and 3-11 in the GLIAC. The Wildcats had a pair of losses at Lake Superior State and at Northwood last weekend.

    MIDLAND, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team fell 81-48 at Northwood University on Saturday (Jan. 26) afternoon. The Wildcats placed three players in double figures but were outscored by 17 points in the first half and 16 in the second. Junior forward Matthew Craggs led the 'Cats with 12 points on the day. Sophomore forward Kendall Jackson and freshman guard Stephen Pelkofer added 10 each. Jackson also added seven rebounds while sophomore guard Quinten Calloway totaled nine points and five rebounds.

The Wildcats travel across the Upper Peninsula on Thursday to take on Lake Superior State, followed by a trip downstate to Northwood on Saturday. Tipoff in Sault Ste. Marie is 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a 1 p.m. tip on Saturday in Midland.
