The event will once again be held in conjunction with the Student-Athlete Awards Banquet. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. and program will follow.
  • NMU Men's Basketball Closes Season Hosting Tech

    MARQUETTE, Mich – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball hosted Michigan Tech in the final game of the season but were defeated by the Huskies with a 71-52 final. Northern Michigan finishes the season 9-19 with a 7-15 conference record, and the Huskies move to 19-7 on the season with a 16-6 conference mark and clinched the No. 2 seed for the GLIAC Conference Tournament.
  • NMU Men's Basketball Sets Team Free Throw Percentage Record in Loss at Northwood

    MIDLAND, Mich. – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball (9-17, 7-13 GLIAC) fell to Northwood 81-66 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action to close out the road portion of their schedule. The Wildcats set a new team record for free throw percentage in a game going 14-14 from the free throw line bettering a 13-13 performance against Grand Valley State earlier this season.
  • NMU Men's Basketball Falls to No. 19 LSSU to Open Weekend

    SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball hung tight with No. 19 Lake Superior State in the first half, but the Lakers were able to pull away in the second half leading to a 71-55 final in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Wildcats shot 20-49 (.408) from the field with 10-22 (.455) coming from beyond the arc, while the Lakers went 28-45 (.622) from the field with 10-17 (.588) shooting from behind the three-point line.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball led for most of the first half but ultimately fell to Hillsdale College 61-49 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. Freshman guard Jordan Perez led the Wildcats with 13 points, while sophomore guard Marcus Hall added 12. NMU falls to 9-16 on the year with a 7-12 conference record with the Chargers moving to 11-12 with a 9-10 GLIAC mark.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball (9-15, 7-11 GLIAC) played their second straight game against a ranked opponent falling to No. 20 Saginaw Valley by a final of 82-72. Senior forward Chavis Mattison recorded his sixth consecutive double-double in the loss with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Jordan Perez scored a game-high 23 points, while freshman forward Alex Sorenson had 12 rebounds in the game.

    BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball (9-14, 7-10 GLIAC) upset No. 17 Ferris State on the road by a final of 73-71. The Wildcats shot 29-49 (.592) from the field in the contest and went 7-12 (.583) from behind the three-point line in the win. Senior forward Chavis Mattison recorded his fifth straight double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds while also adding eight assists on the night. Sophomore guard Marcus Hall added 20 points shooting 8-10 from the field and 4-6 from beyond the arc.

Senior forward Chavis Mattison recorded his fourth consecutive double-double off the bench scoring 12 points with 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Jordan Perez scored a game-high 16 points for the Wildcats.

Northern Michigan improved to 8-13 on the year with a 6-9 GLIAC record with the win, while Michigan Tech drops to 13-6 with a 10-5 conference mark.     MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball (7-13, 5-9 GLIAC) needed overtime to defeat Northwood but came away with an 88-79 victory in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Wildcats outscored Northwood 18-9 in the extra period for the victory. Senior forward Chavis Mattison led NMU with his second consecutive double-double scoring a game-high 28 points with 10 rebounds.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball jumped out to a 29-25 halftime lead but Lake Superior State would outscore the Wildcats 35-19 in the second half to give them a 60-48 win in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The loss bumps NMU to 6-13 on the year with a 4-9 GLIAC record, while the Lakers move to 16-3 with an 11-2 conference mark. Senior forward Chavis Mattison finished the game with a double-double to lead NMU scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

    HILLSDALE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University (6-12, 4-8 GLIAC) came back from an 11 point deficit at halftime but a last second score for Hillsdale gave the Chargers a 59-58 win. Senior guard Terry Nash scored a team-high 15 points with six rebounds, four assists and three steals, while senior forward Chavis Mattison added 11 points off the bench.

NMU swimming and diving is in action in consecutive weeks after the Wildcat Intrasquad, while NMU track and field will compete for the first time since Dec. 6. NMU men’s and women’s basketball continues GLIAC play and NMU hockey travels to Penn State in non-conference action. NMU Nordic skiing competes for the third consecutive week at the St. Paul Battle Creek Super.

The game saw nine ties to go with 24 lead changes with the largest lead for either team being seven points. NMU shot 27-50 (.540) from the field in the game and outscored the Panthers 38-32 in the paint.

The Wildcats shot well in the game going 25-41 (.610) from the field including 5-10 (.500) from beyond the arc in the victory. The NMU bench would outscore the Pioneer bench 41-34.

    NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Northern Michigan University men’s basketball (3-4, 1-0 GLIAC) jumped out to a 38-24 halftime lead and were able to hold on late with a final of 70-61 in their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener. The Wildcats shot 27-56 (.482) from the field in the contest and the bench for NMU performed well outscoring the Walsh bench 37-5. The loss drops Walsh to 4-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
