Wildcats Defeat Bay College 107-68

MARQUETTE, Mich.  --  The Northern Michigan University Men's Basketball team defeated Bay College 107-68 in Sunday's exhibition game. 

Nearly the whole team scored points for the Wildcats, led by freshman Dolapo Olayinka (Chicago, Ill./Mather) with 21 points on 9-13 shooting.  Freshman Alec Fruin (Beloit, Wisc./Turner) added 17 points, including five three-pointers.  Senior Eddie Tornes (Muskegon, Mich./Cumberland CC) chipped in with 12 points. 

Sophomore Will Carius (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) led the team on the boards, grabbing four offensive rebounds, finishing the game with seven total rebounds.  Freshman Troy Summers (Grayling, Mich.) notched six rebounds. 

NMU proved too much for the Norse in the first half, outscoring Bay College 58-28, shooting 65% from the field and 60% from three.  The Wildcats also forced their opponent into 24 turnovers, creating 13 steals on the day. 

Northern Michigan will now prepare to start their season November 11 as they take on Lewis University at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich. as part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/Great Lakes Valley Conference Challenge on opening weekend.
