MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University Men's Basketball team has signed Naseer Turner to the 2018-19 roster.
"We are excited to welcome Nas to the roster. He is a gifted athlete who can run and jump with the best in the Midwest," said Head Coach, Bill Sall. "Naseer has played at a high level of basketball his entire career. He will bring a high degree of defensive energy and passion to the team."
A 6'6" 210-pound forward out of Chicago, Illinois, Turner will be a 2018 graduate from Kenwood High School. He was also a member of the Chicago Demons during the AAU season. Turner averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds a game from the wing and played in the Chicago City-Suburban All Star Game.
"Nas comes from a great basketball family that understands the value of hard work and perseverance," Sall stated. "Assistant Coach, Charles Belt, did a great job as the lead recruiter. I am looking forward to seeing Naseer grow with the program."
Turner joins a program that posted their best season since 2006-07 and made the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time since 2007. Juniors Naba Echols (Nashville, Tenn./Mitchell) and Isaiah Johnson (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) gave NMU their first All-GLIAC First Team selections since 2008.
