KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Rising senior Isaiah Johnson (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) and rising junior Myles Howard (Chicago, Ill./Marian Catholic) of the Northern Michigan University Men's Basketball team earned academic distinction as they were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches NABC Honors Court.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. Student-athletes must posess a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year and academically be in their junior or senior year.
Howard is a mathematics/computer science major and was named to the All-GLIAC Defensive Team after averaging 1.8 blocks per game this past season.
Johnson, an accounting/business major, became one of two players from NMU to earn First Team All-GLIAC honors from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the first time since 2008.
The Wildcats are coming off their first GLIAC Tournament appearance since 2008 and aim to host a tournament game this coming season.
