MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Men's Basketball has signed Gladstone High School standout Reece Castor to a National Letter of Intent.
"We are super excited to have Reece Castor part of the NMU Basketball family," Head Coach Bill Sall said. "I have known Reece for a long time, he has been coming to NMU basketball camps since I have been here. The one thing that has always stood out about Reece is his work ethic. He has plenty of College level skills but his desire to improve is what will make him a very good college player."
Castor averaged 21.1 points per game last season along with 6.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He was named BCAM All-State last year along with being named to the A-B-C First Team the past two seasons.
He will enter his senior season with 1,277 points in his career and is just 48 points shy of the Gladstone High School record, owned by former NMU player Doug Ingalls.
"Reece's length and shooting ability fit our systems well., Sall says about Castor. "He has also played the last 2 years with the Greenwood elite AAU program so he is used to playing against top level competition. I am looking forward to watching him continue to improve in his senior year."
Castor will join a Wildcat squad that will look to replace current seniors Naba Echols (Memphis, Tenn.) and Isaiah Johnson (Whitefish Bay, Wis.), the programs first All-GLIAC First Team honors since 2008.
