BAY CITY, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Men's Basketball senior Naba Echols (Memphis, Tenn.) was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball North Player of the Week after guiding the Wildcats to victories over Davenport University and Grand Valley State University last week.
Echols averaged 19.5 points and four rebounds per game and dished out seven total assists for the week. He also finished 50% from the three-point line and made 10-10 from the charity stripe.
Against Davenport, the senior point guard finished with 13 points with four assists and two steals. He followed it by posting 26 points Saturday against GVSU, hitting four threes, and led the team with eight rebounds while notching three assists.
This is the second time this season that Echols has been named GLIAC North Player of the Week and the fifth time the Wildcats have earned the honor as senior Isaiah Johnson (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) has earned the award three times this season.
The Wildcats now prepare to take on rival Michigan Technological University in the Berry Events Center Saturday at 1 p.m. Wildcat Willy will also be giving away t-shirts to the first students to arrive courtside for both women's game, starting at 11 a.m., and again for those students arriving for the men's game.
