KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Isaiah Johnson (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) was placed on the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2019 NABC Coaches' Division II All-Midwest District Second Team.
The senior for Northern Michigan University Men's Basketball led the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in scoring, averaging 20.6 points this season. He finished the year shooting 45.6% from the field and shot 39.4% from behind the three-point line.
Johnson also lead the league in free throws, averaging 5.3 makes per game. He averaged 5.9 rebounds per game while adding 1.4 assists a game as well.
Against Lewis University, the senior posted a career-high with 33 points. He scored 31 points against Saginaw Valley State University and 30 at Ashland University. In the team's GLIAC Quarterfinal win, he notched 29 points. He notched 25 points in the team's 77-63 upset victory over Davenport University, who finished the year ranked #12 in the NABC National Poll.
Johnson became the 32nd player in school history to achieve 1,000 points in his career and finished with 1,569 points for seventh in school history.
According to the NMU Men's Basketball records, Johnson is the first player since 1987 to earn All-NABC District honors. For the second season in a row, he was also named to the First Team All-GLIAC squad. Off the court, Johnson earned GLIAC All-Academic Team distinction
The Wildcats finished the season 17-12 and reached the GLIAC Semifinals.
