Men’s Golf Ties for Third at NMU Match Play Invite

MARQUETTE, Mich.  The Northern Michigan University Men's Golf team opened their 2018-19 season this past weekend and tied for third place out of eight teams at the NMU Match Play Invitational at the Greywalls Golf Course.

The weekend consisted of match play, where each golfer competed against another golfer for nine holes. Whoever wins the most holes between the two golfers wins. 

Senior Austin Elsner (New London, Wis.) led the Wildcats and captured fourth place, finishing the weekend 4-2 overall.

Senior Logan Haight (Ostego, Mich.) finished 4-2 while sophomore Kyle Pouliot (Gladstone, Mich.) finished with a 4-3 record overall

Redshirt freshman Carter Mason (Negaunee, Mich.) and senior Owen Beyer (DeWitt, Mich.) completed the weekend with identical 3-3 records.  Sophomore Daniel Luhan (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) also picked up a victory.

The Wildcats will return to action this weekend in Big Rapids, Michigan for the Bulldog Invitational.
