DEARBORN, Mich. -- Northern Michigan University Men's Golf had two finish among the top 10 in the 19-team, 99-golfer field as the Wildcats took eighth overall at the Motor City Invitational at TPC Michigan.
Due to a frost delay on day one which pushed the field to a late start causing play to eventually be postponed, the field was forced to return early Monday morning to play multiple holes then played round two in the afternoon.
Senior Owen Beyer (DeWitt, Mich.) led the team and tied for fourth place after rounds of 77 and 74 to total 151. Senior Austin Elsner (New London, Wis.) finished in a tie for seventh place with a final score of 152, shooting rounds of 73 and 79.
Kurtis Fontinha (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Secondary) shot back-to-back rounds of 83 and totaled 166 to tie in 60th pace. Kyle Pouliot (Gladstone, Mich.) rebounded from a first round of 90 with a second round of 78 to tie at 67th place with a score of 168. Logan Haight (Ostego, Mich.) rounded out the team with rounds of 88 and 87 to finish tied for 79th and had a final score 175.
The Wildcats will return to action next Monday and Tuesday by playing in the Kohler Classic in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
