KOHLER, Wis. – Northern Michigan University Men's Golf finished seventh out of 17 teams in the Kohler Classic played at the Whistling Straights Golf Course.
Senior Austin Elsner (New London, Wis.) led the Wildcats by tying for eighth place. Elsner shot 75 on the first day and finished with a 76 on his second round to finish at 151.
Sophomore Kyle Pouliot (Gladstone, Mich) shot 77 on the first day and came back with a round of 85 to finish with a score of 162 and tied for 40th place. Senior Logan Haight (Ostego, Mich.) and junior Kurtis Fontinha (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Secondary) tied for 43rd place, finishing one stroke back of Pouliot. Haight finished with 75 first round and an 88 on the second round while Fontinha shot 80 and followed it with an 83.
Rounding out the scores for the Wildcats was senior Owen Beyer (DeWitt, Mich.). Tying for 62nd place, Beyer shot an 83 first round and an 84 second round to finish with a final score of 167.
The Wildcats will now take a break from action until the spring. They open the spring season with a trip to Florida to play at Bushwood Golf Course in Port St. Lucie, Florida to take part in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference versus Great Midwest Athletic Conference Challenge from March 7-March 9.
