LEXINGTON, Ky. – Northern Michigan University Men's Golf competed in the Findlay Spring Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky.
Senior Owen Beyer (DeWitt, Mich.) led the Wildcats with a final score of 151, which was -7 over par. He shot rounds of 74 and 77 to finish in a tie for 41st place. Senior Austin Elsner (New London, Wis.) was one stroke behind at +8 as his 79 and 73 gave him a final score of 152, which placed him in a tie for 52nd place.
Junior Chris Black (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) finished in a tie for 70th, as he posted a score of 79 on the first day and a 75 on the second day to finish at 154 and +10. In a tie for 99th place and +14 over par, senior Logan Haight (Ostego, Mich.) notched rounds of 80 and 78 for a final tally of 158.
Junior Kurtis Fontinha (Penticton, B.C.) rounded out the NMU scoring with a +17 161. Finishing tied for 111th, the junior shot rounds of 79 and 82.
In a crowded and talented field, the Wildcats finished 19th out of 22 teams.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, April 6 at the Purgatory Golf Course in Noblesville, Indiana for the Midwest Regional.
