BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Senior Adam Rockwood (Coquitlam, B.C.) has been named the Western Collegiate Athletic Conference Forward of the Month for the month of February.
Rockwood led the league through the month with 11 points, notching 10 assists and one goal through the team's eight games. The senior tallied atleast one point in six games, and had multiple points in three games.He also had an assist on two game-winning goals. His 10 assists were second in the NCAA while his 11 points is fifth.
He started his month with an assist in a split series against Bowling Green State University the first weekend. He then notched three assists when the team tied the first game and then collected a victory Saturday when they visited the University of Alabama-Huntsville. In the second game of the series, Rockwood recorded two assists. The next weekend, at Bemidji State University, he added another assist.
The month ended with NMU sweeping Lake Superior State University. In Friday night's win, he tallied his first goal of the month and added an assist. In Saturday's win to capture the Cappo Cup, Rockwood tied a career-high with four assists.
During his career with the Wildcats, Rockwood has posted 75 points with 14 goals and 61 assists. This season, he has collected six goals and 21 assists. Including his stats from his time at the University of Wisconsin, Rockwood has totaled 19 goals and 86 assists for 105 points in his collegiate career.
The Wildcats will conclude the regular season this weekend by taking on rival Michigan Technological University. NMU visists Michigan Tech Friday then hosts the Huskies on Saturday. The Wildcats are third in the WCHA and can clinch a first round home series with a win in either game or a loss by Lake Superior State University or Bemidji State University.
