MARQUETTE, Mich. — The Wildcat hockey program (16-11-4, 14-8-1-1) found no luck with the puck on Friday night as they fell to Bemidji State University (17-8-4, 17-4-2-1), 5-0.
BSU struck first, partway through the opening frame, off a turnover in the Wildcat zone near the blue line. Despite eight shots on goal in the opening period, the Beavers added another to their tally and stifled the Wildcat offense as NMU went to the locker room trailing 2-0, after one.
A three goal second period for the visitors saw the Wildcats trailing 5-0 as they went to the second intermission, a goal total they were unable to overcome.
The Wildcats fired 21 shots on net Friday night but were unable to crack BSU netminder Driscoll.
