MARQUETTE, Mich. — The Northern Michigan men's soccer team battled Ashland to a 1-1 tie Friday afternoon at the NMU Soccer Field.
Ívar Árnason converted on a penalty kick in the 66th minute of the match to put the Wildcats ahead on the scoreboard, but Justin Kowalski evened the score for the Eagles with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
In the first overtime, Northern Michigan blocked three shots to keep Ashland from pulling ahead. Forty seven seconds into the second frame of bonus time, Nic Harenda forced Nick Ciraldo to come up with a big save to keep the game deadlocked at one apiece.
Ciraldo then denied Sveinn Karlsson after a Wildcat free kick deep in Eagle territory.
