MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Men's Soccer Head Coach David Poggi announced the signing of defender Keegan Schmidt to the 2019 roster. Schmidt is the lone signee of the early signing period for a team that returns nearly their entire roster for next year.
"We are excited to have Keegan join our program," Poggi said of the new signee. "When you watch him play you can tell he loves soccer. He attended our I.D. camp last summer where we noticed how hard he works on both sides of the ball."
Schmidt competes for Iowa City Alliance and Sporting Iowa East. He has twice been named the Players' Player of the Year for the Iowa City Alliance.
Looking ahead to 2019, Schmidt will join a squad coming off their best season in three years since the program began play in 2016. NMU is set to return more than 63% of their point production and 59% of their goal scoring from the 2018 campaign.
