Palmbaum Scores Twice at Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. – Freshman Ryan Palmbaum (Rocklin, Calif.) scored the first two goals of his career as Northern Michigan University Men's Soccer visited Quincy University in nonconference action Sunday. The two goals would not be enough as the Wildcats fell 6-2.

In the second half, the Wildcats faced a deficit when Palmbaum scored his first career goal for the Wildcats. In the 62nd minute, senior Callum Olpin (Norwich, England) hit Palmbaum with a pass, and the freshman put it on the back of the net to move NMU closer, making the score 3-1.

Quincy had extended their lead with another goal, but Palmbaum narrowed the gap back to just two goals in the 71st minute. Senior Ben Hoffman (Petoskey, Mich.) headed the ball to Palmbaum, who then volleyed the ball into the net from 18 feet out to make the score 4-2.

However, Quincy added two more goals to take the 6-2 victory.

The Wildcats fall to 1-1 while Quincy is also now 1-1 on the year. NMU will return to the NMU Soccer Field this Thursday for an afternoon matchup with Lewis University.
