Guthrie Takes Medalist Honors for Wildcats

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Junior Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D.) earned the top spot at this weekend's Bulldog Invitational, the first women's golf team event of the season.

Guthrie was Northern Michigan's top finisher, taking first with a 146 (74-72).

Northern Michigan finished second overall, ending with an overall score of 623 (316-307) over the two days.

Senior Avery Rochester (Marquette, Mich.) joined Guthrie in the top 20, tying for 20th with a score of 158 (81-77).

Senior Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C.) (81-78=159) and junior Alyce Krumm (Plymouth, Mich.) (80-80=160) also cracked the top half of the field, tying for 22nd and 25th, respectively.

Junior Baylee Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif), score of 177, and junior Lillian Torres (Pleasant Prarie, Wis.), score of 180, rounded out the golfers for the Wildcats.

Northern Michigan next travels to Bay City, Mich. for the Saginaw Valley State Invitational on Sept. 23-24.
