Wildcats Take Second at GLIAC-GMAC Challenge

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – The Northern Michigan University Women's Golf team opened up the spring season with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference versus Great Midwest Athletic Conference Challenge at the Saddlebrook Course in Wesley Chapel, Florida. 

Leading the NMU squad was sophomore Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia/Pro-Ed Academy), who posted a 153 over two rounds to take third place overall.  Senior Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Secondary) took seventh, shooting a 157 over the two rounds.  Finishing 13th, junior Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D./T.F.Riggs) shot 162. 

Senior Avery Rochester (Marquette, Mich.) shot 178 to come in 23rd while junior Alyce Krumm (Plymouth, Mich./Canton), 190, and junior Lillian Torres (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper), 196, rounded out the NMU squad. 

The Wildcats finished second out of six teams, defeating Tiffin University, Trevecca Nazarene University, Ferris State University and Walsh.  The team fell to Grand Valley State University.  NMU returns to the links March 24-25 at the Perry Park Country Club in Perry Park, Kentucky.
