Pataskala, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University Women's Golf team took part in the Ohio Dominican Snowflake Open at the Cumberland Trail Golf Club in Pataskala, Ohio Monday.
The meet was a one-day event where each golfer played two full rounds.
Senior Avery Rochester (Marquette, Mich.) led the Wildcats with a 77 in the first round and a 76 in the second round to finished with a score of 153 and third place overall.
Sophomore Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia/Pro-Ed Academy) posted a final score of 159 by shooting a 79 then an 80 and placed sixth overall. Junior Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D./T.F. Riggs) took 11th with an 85 and 77 to finish with a score of 162.
Senior Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Secondary) shot a 165 with rounds of 84 and 81 and junior Alyce Krumm (Marquette, Mich.) rounded out the NMU scoring with rounds of 91 and 88 to finish with a 179.
The Wildcats finished second place out of seven teams, behind Saginaw Valley State University and placed ahead of Northwood University, Ohio Dominican University, Ferris State University, Indiana Institute of Technology and Madonna University. The next appearance for the team begins Monday, April 9 at the NC4K College Classic at the Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio.
