BLACKLICK, Ohio – Senior Avery Rochester (Marquette, Mich.) and junior Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D./T.F. Riggs) were named to the NC4K College Classic All-Tournament Team and the Northern Michigan University Women's Golf team shot a school record 297 on their way to a second-place finish at the two day, 36-hole tournament.
Rochester finished second overall, shooting a 73 on the first day and followed by shooting a one under par 71 on day two for a total of 144.
Guthrie captured third place by shooting a 78 day one then also shot a 71 on day two on her way to a final score of 149.
Senior Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Secondary) shot rounds of 77 and 76 on her two rounds to finish the tournament at 153, tying for seventh overall.
Shooting a 79 on both days, sophomore Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia/Pro-Ed Academy), tied for 20th with a final score of 158.
Rounding out the team portion was junior Alyce Krumm (Plymouth, Mich./Canton), who shot 95 on the first day and an 88 on the second day. Junior Baylee Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif./Highland) competed as an individual and scored a 100 on day one and bounced back with a 79 on day two.
The Wildcats placed second out of the 16 team field, placing just five strokes behind the leader, Grand Valley State University and ahead of six other teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Northern Michigan will now enjoy a week from competition before returning Friday, April 20 for the GLIAC Championships at the Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
