Wildcats Take Fourth at Gilda's Club Invite

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University Women's Golf team took fourth place in a 13-team field at the Gilda's Club Lakers Fall Invitational hosted by Grand Valley State University.

Senior Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D. / T.F. Riggs) led the Wildcats and finished eighth overall with a score of 154. She shot a 75 for her first round then followed it with a 79 on the second round.

Senior Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Secondary) tied for 15th place with scores of 78 and 82 to finish with a final score of 160.

Tied for 23rd place was junior Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia/Pro-Ed Academy). Els finished at 164 for the weekend, posting rounds of 79 and 85.

Senior Baylee Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif./Highland) and freshman Abigail Boozer (Brea, Calif.) tied at 44th place, both finishing with final scores of 171. Dunmire shot an 85 on the first day and then an 86 on the second day. Boozer notched a score of 88 first day and 83 the second day.

The team will now go for their third-straight top five performance starting Sunday, October 7 as they compete in the Beall Fall Classic hosted by Findlay University.
