Els Named to All-Tournament Team as Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at SVSU Spring Invite

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Junior Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia) was named to the Saginaw Valley State Uuniversity Spring Invitational this past weekend while the Northern Michigan University Women's Golf team finished sixth out of 23 teams. The Wildcats finished third among nine Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools. 

Els led NMU as she finished in a tie for second place with a final score of 149. She started the invite with a 72 and followed it with a 77 on day two. 

Seniors Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D.) and Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C.) tied at 35th place with overall scores of 162. The pair both finished round one with an 80 and followed it with a round of 82. 

Senior Baylee Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif.) finished tied for 84th after rounds of 88 and 85 to post a final score of 173. Freshman Abbie Boozer (Brea, Calif.) notched an 83 first round but did not compete in the second round. 

NMU will enjoy time away from the links before returning to action Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2 to compte in the NC4K Classic at the Jefferson Golf Course in Blacklick, Ohio.
