Els Named To All Tournament Team as Women's Golf Takes 4th at NC4K College Classic

BLACKLICK, Ohio – Junior Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia) was named to the All-Tournament Team as the Northern Michigan University Women's Golf team placed fourth of 19 teams at the NC4K College Classic at the Jefferson Country Club.

Els finished third overall with a final score of 147. She shot a 74 first round and followed it with a 73 on day two.

Senior Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D.) finished tied for 24th, posting rounds of 83 and 76 for a total of 159. Senior Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C) was tied for 34th with a score of 162 following rounds of 77 and 85.

Freshman Abigail Boozer (Brea, Calif.) tied for 40th place. Boozer tallied rounds of 76 and 89 for a final total of 165. Rounding out the NMU squad was senior Baylee Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif.) with a 98th place finishing score of 195 and rounds of 92 and 103.

The Wildcats finished fourth out of 19 teams and were just three strokes shy of the top three, notching a team score of 633. NMU was the top Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference performer, finishing ahead of five other GLIAC competitors.

The Wildcats return to action this weekend by taking part in the Walsh Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.
