  • Wildcats Name Major Award Winners, Induct Hall of Fame Class

    MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University athletic department inducted five members into its Sports Hall of Fame and honored its current student-athletes at the Sports Hall of Fame and Student-Athletes Awards Banquet Saturday in the Great Lakes Room of the University Center.
  • NMU Soccer Is Selling Wildcat Apparel

    The Northern Michigan University soccer team team is selling Wildcat apparel. Available for purchase are a long sleeve dri-fit tee, a short sleeve dri-fit tee, a women's short sleeve dri-fit tee, a fleece hoody, a women's fleece hoody, a 1/2 zip dri-fit top, a 1/4 zip jacket and a heritage cap. The store opens today and the deadline to order is April 22.

  • GLIAC Announces Fall All-Academic Teams

    BAY CITY, Mich. – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2014 Fall All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Teams. A total of 1,129 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition with 589 on the All-Academic team and 540 on the All-Excellence list. Northern Michigan had a total of 49 student-athletes earn All-Academic recognition with 27 of those student-athletes earning All-Academic Excellence.
  • 2014 NMU Women's Soccer Season In Review

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University women’s soccer was able to clinch a berth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament for the sixth time in the past seven years to highlight a successful 2014 campaign. The Wildcats finished the season 7-10-1 overall with a 5-7-0 mark in GLIAC play, which was good for eight place in the 13 team league.

    BAY CITY, Mich. – Northern Michigan University sophomore forward Paula Hafner was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Wildcats women’s soccer team in goals, points, shots, shots on goal and game winning goals announced the league office Thursday. Hafner was also named All-GLIAC First Team while senior midfielder Kim Rietveld Honorable Mention All-GLIAC honors.

The win puts the Wildcats back at .500 on the season with a 6-6-1 record overall and a 4-4-0 mark in conference. The win was also Head Coach Matt Granstrand's 100th career victory at NMU.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. - On a rainy and windy day the Northern Michigan women's soccer team were able to win their third straight game over the Tiffin Dragons by a final of 7-0. The shutout was also the third straight game where NMU did not allow a goal. The offensive found a good rhythm and seven different players recorded points in the game.

    PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Northern Michigan University soccer opened up a weekend on the road with a 4-0 victory over the Lake Erie Storm. NMU outshot the Storm 11-5 and owned the possession of the ball for the majority of the game. Eight different Wildcats earned points in the victory.
