MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Women's Soccer team hosts their first two home matches of the season this weekend as they take on Winona State University Friday and Northwood University Sunday on the NMU Soccer Field.

| LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats opened the season 1-1 last weekend as they split two matchups in Minnesota. The season started at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where despite a tight defensive effort, the Wildcats fell to the Bulldogs 1-0. The team then bounced back Sunday to defeat St. Cloud State University 2-0 to record their first shutout of the season.
| MAKING STOPS
Junior Brianna Frontuto (Luxemburg, Wis.) finished the weekend with 12 saves and a shutout. Her 12 saves place her in second among the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for most saves. She is also ranked for save percentage, as her .923 places her fourth in the league. Against St. Cloud State, the junior finished with six saves, including a save on a penalty kick that helped set up the team's second goal of the game.
| THE SEASON'S FIRST GOAL
The teams were tied 0-0 after the first 45 minutes during Sunday's contest at SCSU.. Early in the second half, in the 51st minute, sophomore Natalie Stampfly (Stevensville, Mich.) found senior Jamie Montgomery (Gaithersburg, Md.) for the first Wildcat goal of the season.
It was Montgomery's first career goal for NMU while Stampfly notched her first career assist.
| A SECOND ASSIST
Stampfly helped the Wildcats extend their lead in the 78th minute. With 13:47 left to play in the game, Stampfly found senior Kaitlynn Benson (Windsor, Ontario) for the team's second goal of the game.
It was Stampfly's second assist of the game while Benson scored her first goal since the 2017 season.
| NMU VERSUS WINONA STATE
NMU enters Friday's contest seeking their first-ever victory over Winona State. The Warriors come into the match at 0-1 on the season after falling to Bemidji State University 1-0. Last season WSU went 8-8-1.
| NMU VERSUS NORTHWOOD
Sunday's game will be a nonconference matchup between the teams, with their conference game coming later in the season. The Wildcats hold 14-10-3 all-time advantage over the Timberwolves. Northwood is 1-1 this season with a 2-0 victory over Tiffin University and a 2-1 lose to Findlay University
