MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University track & field team will travel to compete at the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Outdoor Championships this Thursday and Friday.
The WIldcats enter compeition with eight top-10 league performers.
NMU senior Brittni Wirtz enters the competition ranked first in the 100m dash with a time of 11.89 which was set a the Hillsdale Invitational. Junior Avadon James ranks fourth in the event after clocking an 11.99 at the Hillsdale Invite. James also ranks third in the league in the 200m run with a time of 24.93.
Sophomores Jasmine Williams and Samanthia Johnson rank third and fourth, respectively in the discus throw. Williams reached a throw of 156-11 at the St. Norbert Twilight while Johnson threw a 154-4 at the Hillsdale Invite.
Wildcat Freshman Ine Mylle ranks third in the league in the triple jump after reaching 38-5 at the St. Norbert Twilight meet. Junior Jasmine King is ranked sixth after a 36-2.25 at the same meet. King also ranks seventh in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.55 at the Rex Foster Invite.
The Wildcats begin action at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships on Thursday.
