DE PERE, Wis. – Northern Michigan University Outdoor Track & Field opened the outdoor season by winning the St. Norbert Invitational on a day that saw snow and a high temperature of just 35 degrees.
| JUMPING WELL
Senior Michelle Juergen (Gau-Odernheim, Germany) highlighted the meet with a provisional mark of 1.68 meters in the high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet, six inches. She finished second in the triple jump with a jump of 36 feet, 5.5 inches. Sophomore Dunja Drobac (Novi Sad, Serbia) captured first in the triple jump by jumping 36 feet, 6.75 inches.
| GETTING OVER THE HURDLES
The Wildcats won first place in both the 100 and 400 meter hurdles. In the 100 hurdles, sophomore Nina Augsten (Koenigsbronn, Germany) won with a time of 15.56 for first place. Freshman Kelsie Sibbald (Barbeau, Mich.) was second in a time of 17.30 and freshman Taylor Foster finished in 17.54 for third place.
| GETTING VICTORIES
NMU finished top three in the 400 meters, with senior Shayla Huebner (Marquette, Mich.) crossing the line in a time of 57.52 to win the race. Senior Paige Dutcher (Williamston, Mich.) was second at 58.92 while junior Paige Du Bois (Green Bay, Wis.) was third in 1:00.89.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, junior Hanna Torvi (St. Paul, Minn.) beat the field by over three seconds, notching a time of 11:15.62.
The Wildcats also captured the top two spots in the 4x100 meter relay. The top team, posting a time of 48.67, consisted of Alaria, Long, Martin and Izabelle Peterson (Marquette, Mich.). In second place, the squad of Sydney McPeters (Sugarland, Texas), Collins, Dutcher and Huebner crossed at 50.57.
| TEAM RESULTS
The Wildcats finished the meet with 254 points, beating University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point who finished with 166 points. They also defeated rival Michigan Technological University, notched 166 points. NMU finished the meet first out of five total teams.

Northern Michigan will next head to the Tiffelburg Open, a meet hosted by Tiffin University and Heidelberg University and will take place April 6 at Tiffin University.
