    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team announced its team winners for the 2013 season. Senior Kellisha Harley (Most Valuable Player), freshman Alex Larsen (Newcomer of the Year Award), freshman Bridget Bussell (Most Improved) and senior Sarah Hamilton (Scholar-Athlete) were honored on Saturday (April 26) at the Sports Hall of Fame and Student-Athlete Awards Banquet.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Athletic Council announced Friday that senior football player Brandon Parson and senior volleyball player Kellisha Harley have been named Student-Athlete Scholar of the Month for October and November, respectively. Parson was nominated by faculty member Mike Martin while Harley was nominated by faculty member Mary Stunkard.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – With losing five seniors at the end of the season, Northern Michigan University’s head volleyball coach, Dominic Yoder has announced the signing of six true freshmen for the 2014 season. Jami Hogeboom, Jamie Maus, Kayla Chosa, Madison Whitehead, Megan Frakes and Meghan Seymour have been added to the roster for next season.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Wildcats will host the University of Findlay Oilers on Wednesday (Nov. 20) in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Quarter-finals. The match will be played in Vandament Arena at 7 p.m. The Wildcats (22-9 overall, 15-3 in the GLIAC) enter the tournament as the number three seed with the Findlay Oilers (20-11, 11-7 in the GLIAC) as the number six seed. The winner of Wednesday’s match will advance to the GLIAC semi-final game on Saturday (Nov. 23) on the campus of the highest remaining seed in the Tournament.

MARIE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Volleyball Wildcats defeated Lake Superior State in three sets (26-24, 25-19, 25-20) on Saturday (Nov. 16) to complete their weekend sweep of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents. The Wildcats finish the regular season 22-9 overall and 15-3 in the conference, good for a three-way tie for second place in the GLIAC. Northern Michigan will host Findlay in the first round of the GLIAC tournament on Wednesday, November 20, at 7 p.m. in Vandament Arena.

The Wildcats took the match in three thrilling sets on Senior Day from Vandament Arena to improve to 18-7 overall and 11-2 in conference play. The set scores were 25-22, 27-25 and 26-24.

The Wildcats (17-7, 10-1 GLIAC) took a split on the day by downing Missouri Science and Technology, 3-0, before being edged, 3-2 by Truman State.     MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball won its fifth Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match in a row and second shutout of the weekend with a 3-0 sweep of Walsh University on Saturday (Oct. 12) afternoon from Vandament Arena. The Wildcats had 14 service aces hit and .398 attack percentage and won with set scores 25-15, 25-18 and 25-10. NMU is now 14-5 overall and 9-1 in the GLIAC on the season.
