The Wildcats visited Indianapolis, Indiana to take part in the University of Indianapolis Invitational. The weekend opened with NMU taking on Davenport in a nonconference matchup, but DU took a 3-1 victory. The Wildcats then faced Minnesota State University Moorhead and won the second and third set, then forced the fourth set to go past 25 points, but the Dragons managed a 3-2 win.
On Saturday, the squad faced two teams receiving votes in the national poll. The day started with Saint Leo University and NMU captured the second set but ultimately fell 3-1. Later that day, the Wildcats collected their first sweep of the season by defeating Gannon University 3-0.

GETTING KILLS |
Sophomore Lizzy Stark (Minneapolis, Minn.) paces the Wildcat attack with 116 kills so far this season, averaging 3.74 kills per set. In the league, the sophomore currently ranks fifth in kills per set. She is fourth in the league in total kills.

DIG IT UP |
Sophomore Lauren Caprini (St. Charles, Ill.) leads the team's defense with 123 digs for an average of 3.73 digs per set. That total places her fourth in the GLIAC.
As a team, the Wildcats are tied for fifth with a total of 481 digs after two weekends of play.

Freshman Lauren Van Remortel (Carmel, Ind.) is averaging 9.53 assists per set giving her a current season total of 286 assists. At the UIndy Invite, the first year player is averaging 38.5 assists per match. Both her average and total assists places her sixth in the league.

COMING UP ACES |
As a team, the Wildcats have 45 total aces, putting NMU third in the GLIAC. Freshman Abigail Durecki (South Lyon, Mich.) leads the team with 11 aces while Stark has added nine so far this season. Van Remortel and sophomore Alli Yacko (Oak Lawn, Ill.) both have added seven aces.

The Lakers are 4-4 this season, with four matches reaching five sets. GVSU most recently split at the NSU Sharks Invite. In the all-time series, the Lakers hold a slight advantage at 51-49, with the series seeing two ties.

After Friday's match, the all-time series is tied 2-2. Davenport is 2-6 on the season after finishing the UIndy Invite 1-3 for the weekend.
