The Wildcats played inside Vandament Arena for the first time this season but were unable to pull out victory in either match. Against Lake Superior State University Friday night, the Wildcats captured the third set 25-20, but fell to the Lakers 3-1. On Saturday, NMU hosted Saginaw Valley State University. The team won the second and third set, and tied the Cardinals 16-16 in the fifth set, but SVSU rallied to score the final two points to win 3-2.

Sophomore Lizzy Stark (Minneapolis, Minn.) is currently near the top of the GLIAC rankings for total kills and kills per set. Stark has 196 total kills which is the third most in the league and she is fourth by averaging 3.77 kills per set.

Freshman Abigail Durecki (South Lyon, Mich.) is also seeing success in her rookie season, as she is hitting at a .333 clip, placing her third in the league. Durecki has a total of 120 kills so far this season with only 30 errors, the second fewest errors among all players in the GLIAC with over 100 kills.

Two additional Wildcats have reached 100 kills this season. Sophomore Hailey Wickstrom (Calumet, Mich.) has added 131 kills while senior Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wis.) has notched 107.

Kuehn and Durecki give the team the second-most successful blocking duo in the GLIAC. Kuehn is ranked fourth in the league with a total of 47 blocks while Durecki has added 43 for seventh. As a pair, they combine for 90 total which trails just a duo from Grand Valley State University which features the conference-leader who has 65 blocks this season.

Three additional NMU athletes are ranked in the GLIAC Volleyball rankings. Durecki can be found tied for fourth with 17 aces this season. Freshman Lauren Van Remortel (Carmel, Ind.) is highly ranked as her 490 assists this season is the fifth-most in the league. Sophomore Lauren Caprini (St. Charles, Ill.) is currently eighth with 190 digs.

NMU holds a slight lead in the all-time series, leading 48-47. The Bulldogs come into the matchup ranked #16 and are currently 10-3 on the season and 4-1 in the GLIAC, with their most recent loss coming to Saginaw Valley State University, 3-1.

The Wildcats are currently on a six-game winning streak over the Timberwolves and leads the series 43-26. NU is coming off victories over University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Purdue University Northwest this past weekend which moved them to 4-8 over all and 4-1 in the conference.
