  • Wildcats Name Major Award Winners, Induct Hall of Fame Class

    MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University athletic department inducted five members into its Sports Hall of Fame and honored its current student-athletes at the Sports Hall of Fame and Student-Athletes Awards Banquet Saturday in the Great Lakes Room of the University Center.
  • Seven NMU Cross Country Runners Named USTFCCCA All-Academic

    NEW ORLEANS – Northern Michigan University cross country had seven student-athletes named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.25 or greater and must have finished among the top 30-percent of runners at Regionals or the top 50-percent at Nationals. The Wildcats along with Roberts Wesleyan and Western State led the nation for the most student-athletes to make the team.
  • GLIAC Announces Fall All-Academic Teams

    BAY CITY, Mich. – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2014 Fall All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Teams. A total of 1,129 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition with 589 on the All-Academic team and 540 on the All-Excellence list. Northern Michigan had a total of 49 student-athletes earn All-Academic recognition with 27 of those student-athletes earning All-Academic Excellence.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Northern Michigan University freshman Kameron Burmeister and junior Megan Edic were named All-Midwest Region after finishing in the top 25 of the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championship Saturday.

    TIFFIN, Ohio – No. 10 Northern Michigan University cross country finishes fourth place at the GLIAC Championships with a score of 111. The top four runners came from No. 1 Grand Valley State who won the championship with a team score of 21.
  • NMU Volleyball, Hockey and Swimming & Diving Compete At Home This Weekend

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University has a full week of competition at home as the NMU volleyball team wraps up regular season action hosting games at 5 p.m. Friday against Lake Superior State and at 4 p.m. Saturday against Northwood. The No. 20 ranked NMU hockey team hosts No. 18 ranked Ferris State in a two-game series at the Berry Events Center Friday and Saturday while the NMU swimming and diving team faces off against Saginaw Valley State at 11 a.m. at the PEIF Pool. The No. 10 ranked Wildcats cross country team is competing in the GLIAC Championship Saturday in Tiffin, Ohio and the NMU football team is on the road at Ferris State Saturday.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. - Northern Michigan University cross country won their second meet in a row at the U.P. Championships. The Wildcats scored won with a score of 17 points ahead of rival Michigan Tech who scored 46.
  • #19 NMU Cross Country Wins at Lucian Rosa Invite

    SOMERS, Wis. – The Northern Michigan University cross country team earned their first win of the year in the 20 team field at the Lucian Rosa Invite. The Wildcats had a team score of 58 with fellow GLIAC schools Saginaw Valley State and Wayne State right behind NMU with 71 and 103, respectively.
  • NMU's Burmeister Named GLIAC Cross Country Runner of The Week

    BAY CITY, Mich. – Northern Michigan University freshman Kameron Burmeister (Menominee, Mich.) has been named the GLIAC women’s cross country runner of the week after finishing in 11th place at the Roy Griak Invitational with a time of 22:47. Burmeister helped lead Northern Michigan to a 3rd place finish in the 35 team field behind #4 ranked Minnesota-Duluth and #10 ranked Augustana.

    FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – Northern Michigan University cross country had a good showing in their second meet of the year with a score of 115, which was good for third behind #10 Augustana and the #4 University Minnesota-Duluth. The Bulldogs had three runners place in the top 10 for the race as they won the meet with a score of 74.

    EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University cross country travelled to the Spartan Invitational, put on by Michigan State University, to open up the 2014 season. Freshman Kameron Burmeister opened up her Wildcat career by leading NMU in the 6k race.

  • NMU Names Ryan Head Track and Field and Cross Country Coach

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Athletic Director Forrest Karr announced today the restructuring of the coaching staffs for the NMU cross country and track and field programs. As a part of that announcement, Karr named Jenny Ryan head coach for the combined cross country and track and field program at NMU.
