MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Women's Cross Country received votes for the second consecutive week in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Top-25.
The Wildcats received four votes in the poll after winning the Bay College Invitational over the weekend, including senior Kameron Burmeister (Menominee, Michigan) taking the top-spot. In her return, Burmeister finished in 18 minutes, 22 seconds.
In the USTFCCCA national poll, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes Grand Valley State University and Hillsdale College are currently ranked first and fifth. The Lakers have been in the top spot for the entirety of the season.
With little change in the USTFCCCA regional poll, NMU sits at seventh in the Midwest Region. The team dropped from sixth as one of only two changes in this week's ranking. Grand Valley and Hillsdale lead the regional poll with the University of Southern Indiana currently in third.
The Wildcats compete again Saturday in Romeoville, Illinois, at the Conference Crossover Invitational hosted by Lewis University. It will be a strong field with eight teams ranked in the USTFCCCA national poll competing at the event. It will also mark the first time in 2017 that the Wildcats will have each of their top-five runners in the field.
