  • Seniors Lead Wildcats at Midwest Regional

    HILLSDALE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Cross Country finished the 2018 campaign Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championships hosted by Hillsdale College. The Wildcats turned in an 11th-place finish as a team, falling less than 20 points shy of a top-10 finish in the six-kilometer race.

    MARQUETTE, Mich.—Each semester of the 2018-19 academic year, Northern Michigan University Athletics will highlight nine different student-athletes or stories for their significance on and off the playing surface. The features are due to be released approximately every two weeks in accordance with the corresponding athletic seasons. Each feature will touch on student-athletes and their interesting and unique journeys at Northern Michigan University.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Cross Country began their 2018 postseason schedule Saturday afternoon at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference hosted by Grand Valley State University. The Wildcats finished fifth as a team lead by senior Sophie McDonald (Park City, Utah) who turned in an all-conference performance.

    MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Cross Country hosted their the U.P. Championships Friday afternoon at the NMU Golf Course. The Wildcats placed second as a team and took the top-two individual places in the five-kilometer race.

    MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Cross Country will host their lone home meet of the season on Friday at the NMU Golf Course. The U.P. Championships will include a women’s five-kilometer race at 3 p.m. and a men’s eight-kilometer race at 3:45 p.m.

    ST. PAUL, Minn.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Cross Country finished fifth as a team at the 2018 Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. Three Wildcats finished in the top-50 in a field of nearly 200 NCAA Division II participants at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.

    EAST LANSING, Mich.—No. 16 Northern Michigan University Women’s Cross Country turned in 13th-place finish as a team at the Spartan Invite six-kilometer race Friday afternoon in East Lansing, Michigan. The Wildcats competed against some of the top teams and runners across all three NCAA divisions at the meet hosted by Michigan State University.
