EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Northern Michigan University Cross Country team traveled to Indiana to take part in the NCAA Midwest Regional and finished 11th in the region among 32 teams with senior Katelyn Smith (Gaylord, Mich.) earning All-Region honors.
Smith led the Wildcats with a season-best time of 21:38.0 to finish in 19th-place. The time was good enough to give her All-Region honors for the second time in her career.

In a field of 222 runners, three more Wildcats finished among the top 75 runners. Senior Hanna Torvi (St. Paul, Minn.) crossed the line in 22.17.3 for a season-best time.
Freshman Madison Malon (Grandville, Mich.) crossed in 46th place, running the course in 22:35.5.
Freshman Paige Saiz (Milford, Mich.) was 73rd on the day set a season-best time, finishing at 22:35.5.

Freshman Meghan Langworthy (Big Rapids, Mich.) timed in at 23:04.1 for a season best, finishing 88th.
Sophomore Anna Kelley (Minneapolis, Minn.) bested her season-best by nearly a minute to take 96th point, finishing the race in 23:11.4.
Senior Paige Du Bois (Green Bay, Wis.) was just a tenth of a second shy of her season best as her time of 23:46.5 placed 124th.
| TEAM RESULTS
NMU finished with 286 points for 11th place out of 32 teams from the Midwest Region. The Wildcats finished ahead of seven other GLIAC teams.

The Cross Country season comes to close for NMU but the runners will now turn their attention to the Indoor Track & Field season. The year gets started with The Opener on Saturday, December 7, hosted by the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.
